RIOT cyber tracking software: one step closer to Minority Report

Massachusetts-based company named Raytheon security firm has developed frightening software called RIOT or Rapid Information Overlay Technology, which is capable of not only tracking anyone’s movements but also can predict future behavior.

RIOT uses data mining from social websites, such as facebook, twitter and so on.

When asked Jared Adams, a spokesman for Raytheon’s intelligence and information systems department, about Riot, he defined: “Riot is a big data analytics system design we are working on with industry, national labs and commercial partners to help turn massive amounts of data into useable information to help meet our nation’s rapidly changing security needs.”

Furthermore, Raytheon has recently admitted that this software was shared with US government and industry riot-1, in 2010, to help build a national security system.

In short, using Riot software, one may gain an entire snapshot of someone else’s movements and may also graphically chart. In the following video, Brian Urch, principle investigator of Raytheon demonstrated how Riot works using one of  employees “Nick” as an example target.

In the video, Urch explains how Riot predicts where Nick can be found in the future. “We know where Nick’s going, we know what Nick looks like,” Urch said, “now we want to try to predict where he may be in the future.”

Here is the Riot video and remember you can run but you can’t  hide !
